Leader Training/Vision Casting Meeting - April 10

Saturday, April 10, 9-11 am

I’ve been working alongside Karen McDaniel, Children’s Ministry Director Extraordinaire, for the past few weeks and we’ve got an incredible time of encouragement and training planned! God is at work in our church and our community—can’t you feel it?!? He wants to touch children’s lives through our ministry. Everyone currently involved in our ministry needs to be at this meeting! Let me know if you can’t be there. Anyone thinking about getting involved should also join us! Childcare and breakfast will be provided!

Follow Me as I Follow Jesus - Mentor a Child

It is my firm belief that spiritual transformation happens through discipleship. Jesus selected a few to follow Him & learn from Him as they watched His example & heard Him speak truth. Each child at Faith needs this kind of relationship with a godly adult besides his/her parent. This adult can simply tell the child to “Follow me as I follow Jesus.” A couple times a month, you will invite the child to “do life” with you—join you as you go fishing, help you bake cookies, take a walk, or head to the grocery store. By watching your example of Christ-like living, the child will see the relevance of Christ for his/her life. You’ll have opportunities to share truth as you spend time with a child! Pray for a couple of days and as God directs you during the next week, email or call me to let me know you’ll step in to this important role!

Vacation Bible School is only 10 Weeks Away!

High above the cluttered schedules and ringing cell phones of ordinary life is SonRock Kids Camp—an outdoor adventure like no other! As SonRock campers, our kids will learn how their lives can be transformed by God’s great love for them. I hope you’ll join us on our wilderness adventure to learn that we are Accepted by Jesus, Protected by Jesus, Saved by Jesus, Forgiven by Jesus, and Living for Jesus.
Please get the dates on your calendars now and email/call me in the next 5 days to let me know how you want to help! Below is a list of our needs!

Wed Nights at Faith Baptist Church!

This church building is full of energy on Wed evenings! Our 5th & 6th graders spend their time playing crazy games (watch out for flying dodge balls), snacking on treats, and taking a look at what God's Word has to say for their lives. Our preschool - fourth graders sing and dance to some crazy songs, watch hilarious skits, play sweet games, and learn the truth of God's Word. On top of that, we have some amazing adults who are committed to building relationships with young people to help them in their faith journey!

I love getting to be here Wed nights! It's awesome to see young people learning how to build their lives on the solid foundation of our God & Savior. Meanwhile, they are learning how to have an incredibly good time within Christian community!

If you've never been around on a Wed night...please come check it out! You can even join us for a yummy dinner at 5:30...and I think you'll want to stick around!

God is Good! He is at work in the lives of our children! Hallelujah!

We will Teach the Truth to our Children

Some days my heart feels heavy...I'm sure you'd be quick to say the same. The truth of God's Word is real and relevant. It gives life, hope, peace, and joy. It is the way! Yet there are so many who have not experienced it, who choose to deny it's authority, and ignore its significance for their lives.

A survey by America's Research Group shows that one of the reasons young people leave church after high school is because their questions about the Bible are not answered. These students say their Sunday School materials were shallow and irrelevant. 86% had begun to question the Bible by their high school years.

A number of factors play into these statistics, but I take it as a charge to work that much harder and smarter to ensure that the children of our church and those we reach in our community understand God's Word for exactly what it is - the absolute truth for our lives. As I was speaking to 5th & 6th graders this week I was alarmed at the depth of their questions. They are seeking the answers to life's questions - are we equipped to provide the answers?

If you're a parent or if you're serving in Children's Ministry, I challenge you to join me in taking these serious matters to heart. I was honest when I told our 5th & 6th graders that I love God's Word! It is life and breath to me, it's my strength and hope and joy. Are you in God's Word daily? Do you allow it to pentrate your soul and spirit (Heb 4:12)? Precious young eyes and souls are watching our examples closely. Am I allowing the Bible's relevance to affect every area of my life? Am I speaking the truth of God's Word into children's minds and hearts whenever I have the chance? Can I look at my life and tell a child to follow me as I follow Jesus?

They must see God's Word alive and active in us to understand it's relevance and authority!

Love & Prayers for you dear Christ followers!

New Virtue for March - Forgiveness

March is here! That means spring has got to be close, right?!?

A new month means a new virtue for KidStuf! This month we'll be taking a look at Forgiveness.

Forgiveness is deciding that someone who has wronged you doesn't have to repay. In other words, it's the opposite of getting even.

Kids will be challenged to memorize Colossians 3:13 -
Bear with each other and forgive whatever grievances you may have against one another. Forgive as the Lord forgave you.

A quick overview of what we'll be learning:
Week 1: Since God forgives you, you should forgive others (Jesus' parable of the Unmerciful Servant, Matthew 18)
Week 2: When people are forgiven, it can change them (Jesus and Zacchaeus, Luke 19)
Week 3: When you want to get even, do the opposite (How Josesph responded when he wanted revenge, Genesis 45)
Week 4: Don't wait to start making things right with others (Jesus' instructions in Matthew 5)

I'm so excited to journey through this important virtue with you and your kids!
